Civic Federation Embraces Twitter

March 15, 2011

By now many Internet users have heard about Twitter, the social media tool that allows easy broadcast of short 140-character messages called “tweets.” Twitter provides a running account of events in the news and context and commentary on those events. The service allows users to “follow” other users and organizations relevant to their interests such as media outlets, politicians and research organizations in real-time.

The Civic Federation has decided to enter into the world of Twitter with a feed that will publicize new Federation research publications and blog posts, as well as citations in the news. The Civic Federation Twitter account will allow followers to keep track on the Federation’s work to promote good government practices across Illinois.
