County property values surge to record high

This article describes the findings of the Civic Federation’s annual report on the total market value of real estate in Cook County for 2004. The Federation estimated that the value of the entire county grew by 17.2 percent in 2004 to more than half a trillion dollars. Chicago’s valuation also grew at a faster rate than the north or south suburbs and its share of property value in the county grew to 48 percent.
