This article highlights certain findings of a Civic Federation study of effective property tax rates in 32 northeastern Illinois communities. The study found that of all towns studied, industrial businesses in Harvey pay the highest taxes as a percentage of their properties' market value and those in Oak Brook pay the lowest, reflecting the relative health of the two municipalities' tax bases.
