April 27, 2011

The Civic Federation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2011 Civic Awards Honorees.

  • John A. Buck, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The John Buck Company, will receive the Lyman J. Gage Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution by an Individual.
  • Walgreen Co. will receive the Addams-Palmer Award for Exemplary Civic Involvement. Gregory D. Wasson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Walgreen Co., will accept the award on behalf of his company.

Each year the Civic Federation recognizes and pays collective tribute to the outstanding civic contributions of individual citizens and Chicago-area institutions at our Civic Awards Luncheon. The awards are given annually to Chicagoans and Chicago-area businesses that best exemplify the vision of civic involvement espoused by the Civic Federation founders for whom the awards are named.

The co-chairs for the luncheon event are Lester Crown, Chairman, Henry Crown and Company; W. James Farrell, Principal, SLP, LLC; Patricia Hemingway Hall, President and Chief Executive Officer, Health Care Service Corporation; and Andrew J. McKenna, Chairman, Schwarz Supply Source.

The event will begin with a reception at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in the Hilton Chicago Grand Ballroom on south Michigan Avenue.
