Description: On February 28th, 2006, over 140 guests from public pension funds, state and local government, nonprofits, and businesses attended the State & Local Government Pension Forum presented by the Civic Federation, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the National Tax Association. The forum addressed major issues in public pension funding, including a comparison to the rising crisis in private pension plans, evaluation of the longterm costs of pension underfunding and their impact on municipal government credit ratings, as well as calls for pension reform.
Featured speakers included Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Michael Moskow, Tim Phoenix and Lance Weiss of Deloitte Consulting LLP, Richard Ciccarone of McDonnell Investment Management, John Kenward of Standard & Poor's, Paul Nolan of Moody's Investors Service, Joe O'Keefe of Fitch Ratings, J.
