Description: On January 30th, 2004, approximately 100 pension managers, government officials, and local business leaders attended the Civic Federation’s second annual public pension forum. Co-sponsored and hosted by Bank One, Public Pension Funding: Creative Strategies and Challenging Times addressed such important and timely issues as current market conditions, early retirement initiatives, and defined benefit versus defined contribution plans. As the morning’s keynote speaker, State Budget Director John Filan gave an update on the state of Illinois’ $10 billion Pension Obligation Bond program and other issues related to state funds.
